Federation Joins Keshet Leadership Project Focused On Jewish LGBTQ+ Community Engagement

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation will be one of four South Florida Federations to participate in the Keshet Leadership Project, which trains organizations to ensure LGBTQ+ individuals feel a sense of belonging in the Jewish community. This will be the first major programming initiative in Florida by Keshet, a national nonprofit working for LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion. The launch of the year-long training program on August 25 will include the Jewish Federations of South Palm Beach County, Broward County, Palm Beach County and Miami along with 13 other local Jewish agencies such as JCCs, day schools, synagogues and human service agencies. Following the day-long educational and assessment session of the organizations’ effectiveness in LGBTQ+ inclusion, participants will be guided over the next 12 months through coaching calls and Keshet webinars. Rabbi Micah Buck-Yael, Keshet National Director of Education, stresses that Jewish professionals working with LGBTQ+ community members need “the tools to say, ‘You belong here, and this is a place of dignity and safety for you.’” Click here to learn more about the Keshet Leadership Project.
