New Resource Guide Teaches About the Holocaust

The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, a committee of Federation, is helping to educate Florida students about the horrors of the Shoah. Thanks to a new state law, the Florida Department of Education has introduced a Holocaust Education Resource Guide and curriculum standards for teaching the Holocaust in public school districts throughout the state. Sharon Horowitz, the Memorial’s Executive Director, is part of the curriculum task force and has helped shape the educational effort. “Miami-Dade, Broward and a few other large Florida school districts have already implemented excellent programs that address anti-Semitism and the Holocaust,” Horowitz explained. “The new guide will make sure that students in every Florida public school system will be informed by similar learning experiences.” To learn more about the work of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, visit HolocaustMemorialMiamiBeach.org.
