Loan Helps Israelis Study Jewish Texts During the Pandemic

Israel

Thanks to your support of the Annual Campaign, Elul Beit Midrash, the first pluralistic house of learning in Israel, has adjusted to the realities of the pandemic and created new ways for Israelis from different backgrounds and communities to study Jewish texts. The organization received financial help from Federation overseas partner The Jewish Agency for Israel Emergency Loan Fund for Nonprofits, which enabled it to develop programs that adhered to health guidelines, such as small study sessions, Zoom gatherings and video classes uploaded online. As a result, groups are meeting and learning together virtually and the Elul Beit Midrash continues to create community. “The loan was so vital to us; it helped us to breathe, to stay afloat,” said Guy Gardi, Director of Elul.
