Fall in Love with Israel Mission a Success!

This week, 40 members of Federation’s South Dade community participated in the Fall in Love with Israel Mission, chaired by Adrian and Ken Dubow. Participants traveled throughout the country for seven days, visiting some of Israel’s most popular and meaningful destinations, such as Yad Vashem, the Kotel, Masada, Machne Yehuda market, Tel Aviv's Independence Hall and more.

Ken Dubow said, “Mission participants had the opportunity to experience firsthand how their donations to Federation are being used in Israel to help improve the lives of so many people.” For example, the group spent Shabbat with participants of Federation-supported programs. They also visited Susan’s House, a program that uses art therapy to help at-risk teens.

The group also explored Miami's partnership city of Yerucham in the Negev Desert. There, they visited with the award-winning Yerucham Robotics Team, which works closely with many of Miami’s Jewish day schools. The Miami Jewish Day School Robotics Initiative helps teachers incorporate robotics curriculum into their lessons. In addition, they spent time learning about the Youth Futures Program, a community-based mentoring program for at-risk teens, during an information session with the program's director and trustee. Programs focusing on creating meaningful people-to-people relationships between the two communities is part of the Israel Partnership 2Gether Program, an initiative of Federation’s overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel.

“It was an incredible week,” said Adrian Dubow. “Witnessing the work of Federation is always something special, but doing it as community — strengthening those bonds between South Dade residents — takes the trip to a whole new level.”
