Miamians Explore Israel With Taglit Birthright

“Visiting different communities in Israel opened up an entirely new world for me regarding the struggles and practices of Jewish people in other parts of the world,” said Taglit-Birthright Israel participant Sam Rynor. Rynor was one of 42 participants, ages 22-26, who recently returned from the Birthright Miami 2023 11-day tour through the Jewish homeland. In keeping with Birthright’s mission to provide Jewish young adults with shared, transformative experiences in Israel, the itinerary was a mix of educational and recreational activities. It included visits to many of the country’s iconic sites such as Masada, Yad Vashem and the Dead Sea. The group also spent time with the Ethiopian community in Pardes Channa, where they viewed a gojo, or traditional Ethiopian home, which Federation helped fund, and spent a morning in Federation’s partner city of Yerucham, where they explored the Science Center. “I was pleasantly surprised how Birthright provided a new sense of spirituality and purpose in my life,” reflected Rynor. “Going with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is a fantastic way to experience Israel.”
