JDC Supporting Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova

"The first thing they do when they arrive is start telling us what they've gone through, everything that's happened, and [we] … let them process. Then, we comfort them, tell them that they're safe here, everything's all right." These are the words of Igor Gaschuk, a Hesed worker in Moldova employed by Federation overseas partner the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), which is assisting with the emotional, physical and financial needs of Ukrainian refugees escaping the largest humanitarian crisis in modern times. Due to the ongoing war, millions of refugees have escaped into countries like Moldova, where JDC continues to care for them and at-risk Jewish elderly and families across Ukraine and in bordering countries. Click here to see what day-to-day life is like for Igor and the displaced people he is helping. Federation is funding work like the JDC’s through our Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund, which you can support by clicking here.
