Mazal Tov to the Miami-Yerucham Partnership as it Celebrates its B'Nai Mitzvah Year

Mazal Tov to the Miami-Yerucham partnership as it celebrates its B'nai Mitzvah year. To mark the relationship between Federation’s Miami Jewish community and Miami's partner city Yerucham in Israel's Negev region, residents from both communities have created a B'nai Mitzvah booklet highlighting stories from the partnership. This meaningful, deeply personal compilation captures the people and personalities behind the communities — from recollections of volunteering in the Negev desert and reports from the earliest days of the partnership to beloved family recipes and tales of lasting friendships between Miami and Yerucham residents. “It has been extremely rewarding witnessing the growth and the effects that the partnership has had among the two communities,” said Mytyl Simancas-Bister, Chair of the Miami-Yerucham Partnership Committee. “These first 13 years were focused on setting the foundations for the partnership in order to secure its success and its future. We have done this by developing close relationships among the two communities by working together and pooling our resources to see it flourish.”

The Miami-Yerucham Partnership is part of the Partnership 2Gether program of The Jewish Agency for Israel, which aims to strengthen the bonds between Israel and Diaspora Jewry by pairing global Jewish communities with Israeli communities. “We have a thriving partnership, one that cares for its members in times of peace and in times of distress—one that everyone in Yerucham knows and appreciates,” said Ofir Tsimering, Chairman of the Steering Committee in Yerucham. “The partnership contributes so much to so many different audiences in Yerucham, such as a good starting point for life with high social mobility for the youth; care for senior citizens and connection between communities and businesses on both sides of the ocean. If we managed all this in just 13 years, the sky is the limit!”
