Hillel at FIU Launches #RoaryWasRight

As antisemitic incidents become more commonplace on college campuses around the country, Florida Hillels are taking a stand in peaceful and creative ways to protect their student bodies from this vicious and dangerous Jew hatred. In recent months, there have been a rash of antisemitic demonstrations on Florida college campuses by white supremacists outside the campus community siding with a well-known rapper claiming he “was right.” In response, Hillel at Florida International University (FIU) launched #RoaryWasRight, a campaign based around the school’s mascot who stands for love and acceptance. “Panthers don’t spread antisemitic tropes; they rise above hate,” read a recent Hillel at FIU Facebook post. “Panthers don't let trolls dominate free speech; they preach unity to the masses.” #RoaryWasRight continued last week as Hillel members set up a table in the main part of campus inviting anyone who was interested to attend Shabbat and sign their pledge to stand up to antisemitism. Kol Ha’Kavod (well done) to Hillel students for taking the high road! Federation’s Annual Campaign supports seven Florida Hillels, including Central Florida Hillel, Hillel at FIU, Hillel at FSU, Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach, Hillels of the Florida Suncoast, UF Hillel and UM Hillel.
