Shalom Bayit Helps Survivors of Domestic Abuse

Physical attacks, emotional abuse, isolation, verbal rage, threats and intimidation — these are the signs of domestic violence, which can impact anyone, regardless of religion, age, gender, education or economic status. October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Federation is working with our primary human service partner Jewish Community Services (JCS) of South Florida, to assist survivors of domestic abuse through Shalom Bayit. Translated as “peace in the home,” Shalom Bayit provides short- and long-term case management including safe emergency housing, employment assistance, financial support, mental health counseling, access to the JCS Kosher Food Bank and health and wellness services so families can recover from crises involving domestic violence. If you are in an abusive relationship and need help, call the JCS Shalom Bayit hotline at 305.576.1818. All calls and assistance are handled in the strictest of confidence.
