Shlichim Changing Lives at North American Jewish Summer Camps

More than 1,550 amazing young Israelis are spending their summer as counselors, Israeli culture specialists, song leaders and more at Jewish summer camps across North America. It’s all part of The Jewish Agency for Israel’s Shlichim (emissaries) program, which brings Israel to life and forges powerful connections to our Jewish homeland in communities throughout the continent. “Camp shlichim are super important because they bring Israel and Judaism to the summer camps in an authentic way and expose young kids to the legacy of Israel and Judaism through everyday activities and storytelling,” said one Israeli participant. “As an Israeli and former soldier, I’m able to offer these campers a fuller picture of Israel today, which can positively impact their perception of the Jewish state.” The Jewish Agency for Israel is a Federation overseas partner agency that also places community shlichim in Miami to connect us to Israel throughout the year.
