Supporting Holocaust Survivors in Israel After 10/7

Imagine surviving the Holocaust, living in Israel but being chronically ill and then suddenly uprooted from your home after the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7. How do you cope with your new reality? Understanding the dire needs of elderly residents from Israel’s frontlines, particularly those in the south and north, the Federation-funded Aviv for Holocaust Survivors is a nonprofit dedicated to safeguarding the dignity and wellbeing of Israel’s vulnerable seniors. Through the Israel Emergency Fund, Aviv has expanded their existing vital support system — which since 2007 has provided benefits and worked to uphold the fundamental rights of more than 70,000 Holocaust Survivors — to ensure that displaced elderly access vital services to help them adjust to unfamiliar routines and navigate new surroundings.
