"There is no future without our past." Spoken word artist Vanessa Hidary, the “Hebrew Mamita,” shared these powerful words during her surprise performance at yesterday's Greater Miami Jewish Federation Women’s Event. Even during a pandemic, more than 1,000 women registered to take part in the annual fundraising event, where Women's Philanthropy created a meaningful program and brought the community together virtually in this unprecedented time. Actress, author and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, in conversation with award-winning journalist Jeannette Kaplun Braun, shared her Jewish journey, her career path, her steadfast support of Israel and the importance of being involved in community. Guests also heard from Event Chair Silvia Assor, Women’s Philanthropy President Ilene Kossman and Women’s Philanthropy Campaign Chair Tammy Woldenberg about the many ways Federation is making a difference for those most impacted by the current crisis.
