Making the Grade: Two Miami Universities Receive “As” From ADL

Mazal tov to two Miami-Dade County universities — Florida International University and University of Miami — which are among the select group of eight colleges to have received top marks in ADL’s recently released Campus Climate Report. Standing out in a pack of 135 campuses assessed, FIU and UM both received “A” scores based on 30 criteria separated into three rubrics: Administrative Policies, Jewish Life on Campus and Campus Conduct and Climate Concerns. Both universities are home to active Hillel chapters — two of the eight Florida Hillels funded by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. With support from administration, campus police, faculty, staff and fellow students, the universities respond to hate head-on, ensuring Jewish students feel safe and supported. Through learning and leadership events, advocacy, community building and more, FIU and UM are showing their students what it means to be #JewishMiamiProud!
