JDC Family Camp Offers Ukrainian Families a Respite From the War

For the past 26 years, the Solomonika JCC in Dnipro, Ukraine has hosted a family summer camp designed to foster familial bonding, socialization with other families and the sharing of Jewish traditions. Despite the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, this year was no exception. Supported by Federation partner the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the camp welcomed 50 families who spent the week creating a miniature model community reflecting their values and traditions. They also enjoyed cultural workshops, field trips and volunteer activities. Campers included displaced persons and families, along with individuals from the World on the Palm project, dedicated to supporting the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. "We are grateful to all the organizers and participants of this wonderful family camp for the incredible emotions, creativity and friendly atmosphere,” said one camper. “You make the world a better, warmer and more interesting place!"
