Helping Vulnerable War Evacuees, 17 Months Later

Federation’s vital support of Yad Sarah since October 7 has ensured that Israel’s foremost volunteer organization can continue to aid vulnerable evacuees of the ongoing war. In the case of elderly client Ayisa, when her safety and wellbeing were threatened by continued hostilities, her family moved her and her devoted caregiver, Reena, to Yad Sarah’s Wellness and Rehabilitation Hotel. There, Ayisa’s broken wheelchair was repaired, her dietary needs were addressed and she was provided with a specialized bed. The facility, uniquely equipped to accommodate those requiring mobility and nursing assistance, has opened its doors to about 400 seniors, plus people living with disabilities and their caregivers, many of whom, like Reena, come from foreign countries to contribute essential services. “I want to thank the Jewish Federation for their support,” expressed Reena, noting, “Their help has been invaluable during these challenging times.”
