Yerucham Robotics Team Members Help in the Fight Against COVID-19

Thanks to a Greater Miami Jewish Federation emergency grant to the Yerucham Science Center for its high school robotics team, professionals working with special populations in Israel now have transparent face shields to help keep them safe during the pandemic. Using a 3D printer, laser cutter and their technological expertise, students made 750 transparent shields, which are preferred over traditional face masks because they allow for lip reading and visible facial expression. The face shields are being used by the teachers in Yerucham, professionals and volunteers serving the elderly, as well as professionals working with special needs children at Federation-supported agencies Aleh Negev, Shalva and Beit Issie Shapiro. The grant is part of the Miami-Yerucham Partnership, a program that builds people-to-people relationships between the two cities.
