ISRAEL OUTDOORS PRESENTS: Tour Jewish Rome with a Roman Jew - January 20th

TOUR | Jewish Rome with a Roman Jew

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20 @ 1pm ET / 10am PT

The Jewish community of Rome is known to be the oldest in Europe – dating back to 161 B.C.E. when Judah the Maccabee sent emissaries to settle in Rome. The Jews of Rome thrived under rulers like Julius Caesar, but their status eventually deteriorated, and by 1555, Pope Paul IV created a "Jewish Ghetto" which remains the center of Rome's Jewish life today. On this virtual tour, native-born, Michaela Pavoncello, will show us the key landmarks and hidden treasures of Jewish Rome – as well as share what it means to be part of Jewish life in Rome today.
