Miami Beach JCC’s Savor at Studio J - A Party for A Purpose

The Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC on the Simkins Family Campus will host the annual Party for a Purpose Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 8:00 pm at the Miami Beach JCC (MBJCC).

This year’s theme is Savor at Studio J. The MBJCC will bring back the “Studio 54”, high-end disco nightclub feeling. Highlights of the exclusive gala include entertainment by singer-songwriter Samantha Gibb. Gibb began her first recordings with her father, the late Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees and recently sang with her Uncle Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees for the Miami Beach Centennial.

Each year, over 450 of Miami Beach’s most prominent and influential community members join us for this spectacular fundraiser. All netting funds help to provide the financial foundation that allows the MBJCC’s community programming and services to flourish. The dollars raised will benefit the MBJCC’s scholarship fund, giving all families in the community an opportunity to be a part of the incredible facility and the vital services it provides.

This year’s honorees are three Miami Beach couples who were instrumental in the creation of the facility three years ago and who remain involved today: Mojdeh and Robert Danial, Randi and Teig Lawrence, and Adrienne and Stevan Pardo.

The evening is co-chaired by Rochelle and Robert Finvarb, Loren and David Kaiserman, Shoshanna and Scott Wagner, and Rachel and Jeffrey Weissman with Journal Chairs Marisa Galbut, Robin and Dr. Baruch Jacobs, Jennifer Kaplan, and Tara and Brian Katz.

Individual tickets are $180 ($150 age 35 and under).

Founded in 1973, the first Caravan came to the United States to bring a message of hope and peace for Israel. Since that first Caravan, the program has grown to four different Caravan travelling across North America, from New York to California to Wyoming and Toronto.

Each Caravan is made up of a group of five girls and five boys and their two leaders. They are chosen to be members of the Caravan based on their maturity, fluency in English, and of course their talent in the performing arts. After several rounds of competitive auditions andinterviews, the scouts spend a year training and rehearsing for their exciting summer in North America.

Miami Beach JCC Begins Construction on New Facility

Dear Members and Supporters,

We are excited to announce that at long last the Miami Jewish Community Center (JCC) has begun construction on our new 35,000 square-foot facility located on Pine Tree Drive. For decades, the Miami Beach Jewish community has been in great need of a facility and institution that will serve to unify its diverse constituents and that is exactly what the new Miami Beach JCC will do. While we still have continued fundraising work to do, at long last, the dream of our new Miami Beach JCC will become a reality.

Miami Beach has a thriving Jewish community and is one of the most historic Jewish communities in the world. We will now have a haven where the entire community can participate in social, recreational, educational and cultural programs in one convenient location.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has been an avid supporter through this process and has agreed to guarantee the bond that will finance the construction of this important community center, which is expected to be open in September 2012. This project could not have come to fruition without the help of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the City of Miami Beach and all of our donors, especially the family of Russell Galbut who provided the naming gift for the new Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC. We are also thankful to all of our members who have continued to support us, use our services and attend our events.

The Miami Beach JCC’s new facility will serve as an essential community resource offering opportunities to enrich the lives of families, adults, teens, children and seniors seeking vibrant programs and services in a unique and inclusive environment. The new facility will allow us to provide expanded programming, new and improved spaces for sports and recreation, and a comfortable gathering space where the Miami Beach Jewish community can connect.

The new facility will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a 4,200 square-foot outdoor swimming pool, as well as a multi-purpose playing field. Additional highlights include a large gymnasium, a social hall, and special rooms dedicated to the arts, parenting and gymnastics programs.

We have also launched our new website. The new design and layout will make it easy for you to register for programs and stay up to date on all of the exciting news and developments as we go through the building process.
