Gift of Life One Huge Night Gala
Posted by Noa Waks Rudman on 10/26/2022 @ 02:21 PM
Gift of Life’s annual One Huge Night Gala recognizes and honors the people that help Gift of Life save lives and accomplish all the remarkable things they do. Many award winners share personal stories that compelled them to get involved in the organization as a donor, recipient, supporter or volunteer. This year's honorees include Marissa Galbut, Dr. Brooke Owens and Liza Samuels.
The highlight of the evening is a first-time meeting between a blood stem cell donor and recipient. The experience of witnessing a stem cell donor meeting the person whose lives they saved is truly magical. This heartwarming meeting has been performed more than 450 times over the years.
In addition, Gift of Life celebrates its accomplishments over the past year and provides a glimpse of the company’s future plans and focus of getting everyone involved in curing blood cancer, inherited immune disorders and other diseases. Gift of Life continues to facilitate the latest medical advances to help save patients in need.
The Gala will be chaired by Mojdeh Khagan Danial, Robin Schwartz Jacobs, Debbie Kalimian and Carla Probus.
41st Annual Hebraica Maccabi Games
Posted by Noa Waks Rudman on 10/26/2022 @ 02:10 PM
Our Maccabi Games are entering another milestone…This year, we will be celebrating the 41st anniversary of our spectacular Games here in Miami.
From its beginnings with 200 athletes who were now calling America their home, the Games have morphed 10 times in numbers to become the largest annual Jewish athletic event of its kind in the United States.
Who would have thought back then that these Games would have continued from generation to generation–from its earliest participants planting the seeds for their children to nurture and grow…and now passing that legacy along for their children’s children to inherit.
For this special anniversary, we turn to you to lend your support as a 41 Annual Maccabi Games sponsor.
Find Answers to Your Midterm Election Questions With JCRC’s Election Toolkits
Posted by Noa Waks Rudman on 10/26/2022 @ 12:44 PM
Early voting has started and the general election is less than two weeks away! Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council has developed an Election toolkit to help registered voters in Miami-Dade County access information on how to request a mail-in ballot, vote early or vote on Election Day. It also allows voters to find their voting precinct. The Toolkit is part of a larger civic engagement effort, by JCRC, to engage and inform voters in Miami-Dade County on important election match ups, initiatives and issues that will impact the broader community. This includes the upcoming vote on Referendum 2, in Miami Beach, which the JCRC is urging community members to support by voting “YES.”

Torah Championship Coming to South Florida
Posted by Noa Waks Rudman on 10/20/2022 @ 10:31 AM
JewQ is an international competition of basic Jewish history and Torah concepts for boys and girls in grades 3 through 7. Geared for Jewish children who are not getting a typical Jewish day school education, Chabad Chayil will host a weekly class to make mastering the information fun and easy.
Now entering its fifth year, thousands of students from around the world are becoming experts in Jewish knowledge through JewQ!
Students will have the option of learning the information together with other kids their age at Chabad Chayil each week at their Highland Lakes location or learning the book at home on their own and at their own pace. Each student that averages 70% or higher on the three qualifying tests earns the chance to be a champion—and the champions are the lucky ones invited to the JewQ annual Shabbaton in New York! All champions who score over 70% on all three tests will also qualify to earn a special prize or trip!
The once in a lifetime Shabbaton is full of fun hands-on activities and thrilling adventures. Champions take the final test to earn a JewQ Medal at the International Championship, the highlight of the JewQ experience and Shabbaton weekend. The top two finalists of each city will also get the chance to compete on stage in a live game show performance.
We are very excited for South Florida to be a part of this global and powerful initiative.
In addition to the International Championship, we’ll be celebrating the hard work of our JewQ contestants with a local game show event, scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 5th at a South Florida location TBA. The local event will give the community a chance to see just how much knowledge children have gained about the fundamentals of Judaism, including law, history, core concepts, and more.
JewQ is a project of Merkos 302 at Chabad Headquarters in Brooklyn and Chabad Chayil's Community Hebrew After-School Program (CHAP). To sign a child up for weekly classes or for more information see ChabadChayil.org/JewQ.
To sponsor one or more children or to become a corporate sponsor of this amazing program and event, reach out to [email protected] or call 305-770-1919. For other preschool or afterschool activities visit HebrewSchool.info.
Details JewQ is for children grades 3 through 7. Each grade has specific information for that age. Each child will be given 3 tests during Hebrew School throughout the learning periods to keep them motivated and ascertain their level. Each child must spend at least 35 minutes a week mastering the information.
