Day 3: Meet your local team working on the frontlines to combat antisemitism

Become acquainted with your local community professionals who are committed to educating, empowering and protecting the Miami-Dade Jewish community from antisemitic threats and actions.

From Federation’s Office of Community Security (OCS): James Somohano has served in the Miami-Dade law enforcement community for over 36 years, including command-level and policy-making level positions. He is currently Federation’s Director of Community Security, responsible for the safety and security readiness of synagogues and temples, Jewish day schools and Jewish community centers across Miami-Dade County. James provides critical life-saving training to these entities and also serves as the principle liaison to both local and federal law enforcement.

From the JCRC: Joshua Sayles has served as a civil rights and advocacy professional on behalf of the Jewish community for more than 10 years. He is responsible for Federation’s legislative initiatives on the local, statewide and federal levels, and also works to build bridges of understanding between the Jewish community and diverse communities throughout the county. David Leviev provides support for community-building initiatives and provides educational guidance for institutions applying for security grant funding.
