PurimFest 2022

YIDDISHKAYT INITIATIVE (YI LOVE JEWISH) SERVING UP THE WHOLE MEGILLAH WITH THE INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL PURIM FESTIVAL Stay In Your House and Get Your Shushan On! March 16-18 2022

The holiday of Purim has often been called “the Jewish Carnavale,” with the joys of song, laughter and drama folded into one, like tangy, fruit-filled hamantashen. That’s just the recipe for some Yiddishe Taam - A Taste of Yiddish - that the Yiddishkayt Initiative (YI Love Jewish) will be serving up at its second annual International VIRTUAL YI Love PurimFest, scheduled online from March 16-18. The festival is sponsored by The Betsy - South Beach, University of Miami’s Sue and Leonard Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies and The Czenstochover Society and Relief Committee and is presented with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners and is sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. Funding for this program was provided through a grant from the Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

One of the festival’s highlights is Isaac Bashevis Singer’s Classic Gimpel Tam (Gimpel the Fool) starring Dori Engel in association with Israel’s beloved Nephesh Theatre airing on March 18th at 7pm EST. The production is based on a story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, adapted and directed by Howard Rypp. Another highlight is the PurimShpiel Concert with the Chorney-Ghergus Duo airing on March 18th at 7pm EST. Efim Chorny and Susan Ghergus headline the 1 Chorny-Ghergus Duo, one of the most renowned groups in Yiddish music in Europe and beyond. They are laureates of the prestigious Moscow International Solomon Mikhoels' Art Festival (1st Prize). For a complete schedule of events for this festival, visit https://yilovejewish.org/events/
