Employment Type: 20–25 hours per week (flexible schedule based on department needs)

Job Description Summary

The Marketing & Social Media Intern will support the organization's marketing and communications efforts by creating engaging digital content, managing social media activities, assisting with promotional campaigns, and helping document events and programs. This position provides hands-on experience in social media marketing, content creation, digital storytelling, branding, analytics, and nonprofit communications.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Content Creation & Digital Asset Management

  • Organize, catalog, and maintain a digital library of photographs, videos, graphics, and marketing materials for the Memorial and Education Center
  • Create compelling social media content, including graphics, captions, reels, stories, and short-form videos for review and approval
  • Assist in gathering, editing, and organizing visual content for use across marketing platforms
  • Ensure all content reflects the organization's mission, brand standards, and visual identity

Social Media Management

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a weekly social media content calendar across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Schedule and publish approved content using social media management tools
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities and audience interaction
  • Research social media trends, best practices, and emerging content opportunities to enhance audience engagement

Marketing Campaign Support

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to brainstorm, develop, and execute monthly marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives
  • Assist with campaign content development, scheduling, and implementation
  • Support marketing efforts for educational programs, exhibits, special events, and community initiatives
  • Help identify local advertising, sponsorship, media, and partnership opportunities that increase visibility and audience reach

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track and monitor social media performance metrics, including:
    • Engagement rates
    • Impressions and reach
    • Follower growth
    • Video performance
    • Website referral traffic
  • Prepare basic reports summarizing campaign and social media performance
  • Provide recommendations for improving content effectiveness and audience engagement

Event & Program Support

  • Assist with photography and videography coverage of events, educational programs, exhibits, and community activities
  • Capture content for use in social media, marketing materials, newsletters, and promotional campaigns
  • Support event promotion before, during, and after programs through digital channels

Email Marketing & Communications

  • Assist with creating and distributing email marketing campaigns and newsletters
  • Support content development for promotional emails, event announcements, and organizational communications
  • Help maintain and update marketing contact lists and communication materials

Administrative & General Marketing Support

  • Assist with special projects related to marketing, communications, public relations, and audience development
  • Maintain organized records of marketing assets, campaign materials, and analytics reports
  • Attend departmental meetings and provide updates on assigned projects
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and current digital marketing trends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

This is a sedentary role. The position primarily involves working at a desk, sitting for extended periods while using a computer, phone, or other digital devices. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times is required.

About Holocaust Memorial

In 1984, a small group of Holocaust survivors came together to create a lasting memorial in Miami honoring the six million Jews who perished. The following year, the Holocaust Memorial Foundation was officially established as a private nonprofit organization.
