Federation Receives $200,000 to Continue Support of Holocaust Survivors

Federation has been awarded $200,000 to continue its critical support of programming and social services for Holocaust Survivors and trauma care for diverse older adults in Miami. The funds are part of a $3.3 million federal grant from the Administration for Community Living, secured through Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). With the grant, Federation partner Michael-Ann Russell JCC is nurturing connections between Survivors and Jewish youth in a unique intergenerational initiative. Fifteen-year-old Noa and 89-year-old Survivor Sidi’s relationship transcended the boundaries of time and trauma. For Noa, the program proved transformative; for Sidi, it was a vital and validating opportunity to be seen and heard, an experience many Survivors often lack. Since 2015, JFNA’s Center on Aging, Trauma and Holocaust Survivor Care has assisted Jewish and non-Jewish agencies, helping almost 50,000 Holocaust Survivors and more than 16,000 diverse older adults with a history of trauma.
