Learn About Your Breast Cancer Risk With Yodeah

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but Federation’s partner Yodeah works year-round to promote awareness of breast cancer risks among those in the Jewish community. The nonprofit is committed to educating Jewish individuals about hereditary cancer genetic mutations and providing access to affordable, clinical-grade testing. “Anyone with breasts is at risk for developing breast cancer, but one in 40 Ashkenazi women AND men carries a BRCA genetic mutation that can markedly increase their risk of the disease,” said Yodeah Founder Elizabeth Etkin-Kramer, MD, FACOG. “Further, those with BRCA mutations have a breast cancer risk that begins to increase at younger ages than expected. Most Ashkenazi Jews with a BRCA [gene] have no family history of cancer so they are not aware of their increased risk. All Ashkenazi Jews need to be tested.” Your donation to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign supports Yodeah and so much more.
