New Teen Israel Academy Now Accepting Applications
Posted by Naomi Lantzman on 08/09/2024 @ 03:24 PM
With the dramatic rise in worldwide antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric, it is more important than ever that students understand the complexities of our Jewish homeland — both its miracles and its challenges — before they arrive on college campuses.
That is why Federation is sponsoring Teen Israel Academy, an exciting new kind of Israel education for a limited number of Miami-Dade high school juniors and seniors and their parents. The academically rigorous program will examine Israeli history and society, including the intricacies Israel faces within its own borders, with its neighbors and with the world, and provide a meaningful and relevant introduction to many of the fundamental questions that remain at the heart of the Jewish people and State of Israel. Applications are now being accepted through August 26. For more information and to apply, click here.

Join Berel Solomon on an action-packed new movie called Finding Mashiach. An adventure to the land of Israel and beyond, amid the war in Israel and Gaza, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and the Presidential election, global unrest has made the world appear darker than ever. Some might think we're heading toward Armageddon, rapture, the end of days, apocalypse, the Day of Judgment, or the resurrection of the dead. What is really going on? How does Judaism differ from Christianity, Islam, and other major religions on the subject of the Messiah? The whole world seems to be shaking, and all the major Jewish rabbis and theologians agree: the time is now. Movie at 5:45. Federation Sends Condolence Letter to Israel’s Druze Community
Posted by Naomi Lantzman on 08/01/2024 @ 11:22 AM
Horrified by last weekend’s brutal Hezbollah rocket attack that killed 12 beautiful, innocent Druze teens and children in Israel while they were simply playing soccer, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and its Israel & Overseas Department and Jewish Community Relations Council leadership sent a heartfelt letter of support to the mayor of Majdal Shams.
The letter extended deepest condolences to the community and shared some details about Miami’s long-standing, warm and substantial connection with Israel’s Druze residents. It said in part, “Hezbollah’s intent was, and is always, to harm anyone living in the State of Israel. They do not distinguish between Jewish or Druze, secular or religious, Arab or Israeli. Those rockets were intended for all of us. Tragically, on July 27, they struck Majdal Shams and accomplished the unthinkable.” Click here to read the entire message. May the victims’ memories forever be a blessing.
"Herzl Goes South" Exhibit
Posted by Lauren Gold on 07/30/2024 @ 04:36 PM
September 11, 6:30 PM-October 30, 5 PM
An exhibit of artifacts from the David Matlow collection of Theodor Herzl memorabilia, the world’s largest private collection. Herzl founded the Zionist movement and was the visionary for the State of Israel. Matlow said: “Herzl believed that we are not saddled with the conditions in which we find ourselves, that change is possible, and that the future can be better than the present."
The exhibit tells Herzl’s story. How he understood that something new needed to be done to confront antisemitism, and that he was the one to do it. How he didn’t just talk, he acted and put in place the infrastructure of a state in creation. How he knew that the Jewish people needed a symbol to inspire them to work toward the impossible idea of a Jewish state, and he became that symbol. The evidence of all this can be found in three glass cabinets.
