Join Diller Teen Fellows

Diller Teen Fellows, a pluralistic and immersive leadership program that invites a select group of Jewish teens to step up, lead their communities and repair the world, is now accepting applications for their next Cohort that will take place during the academic year 2023-2024.

Operated by the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE), a Federation subsidiary, the fellowship welcomes rising 10th and 11th graders interested in growing their leadership skills and connecting with a diverse group of teens from Miami-Dade County. Diller Teen Fellows includes monthly workshops, three Shabbatonim, a weeklong cultural exchange with Israeli teens, and a three-week trip to Israel in July. Through experimental education, hands on volunteering and once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences, Diller provides teens with the tools to become a force of change throughout their lifetime. How to Talk to Your Children and Grandchildren about Antisemitism

CAJE's Departments of Adult Learning and Teen Education & Engagement, in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), invite you to participate in an important virtual program, "How to Talk to Your Children and Grandchildren About Antisemitism" on May 11th at 7pm with

  • Josh Sayles, Director of the JCRC, will moderate a conversation amongst a panel of experts:
  • Sarah Emmons, FL Regional Director at the Anti-Defamation League
  • Rabbi Diana Fersko, author of "We Need to Talk about Antisemitism"
  • Carly Orshan, Director of CAJE's Teen Department

According to an article released by the ADL in March, 2023, "antisemitic incidents in Florida have more than doubled since 2020. Reports of antisemitic incidents have reached an all time high both locally and nationally". By empowering our children, our teens, and adults with knowledge and the skills to evaluate information critically, we can better identify and speak out against the influence of antisemitic propaganda and misinformation.

This virtual program is designed to provide information and offer participants helpful takeaways to facilitate meaningful conversations with their children and grandchildren. Don't miss this important program!

Enroll Your Teen in BBYO Today

BBYO is an organization that can be put in one word: Passion. It is a Jewish organization that prides itself on its sense of community, and everyone in the AZA Hurricanes Chapter is excited and looks forward to every meeting. BBYO provides teens with the opportunity to be part of a global movement spanning 61 countries and boasting an impressive 70,000+ members, and one that is celebrating its centennial this year. This organization allows Jewish teens to meet, build friendships, and bond over BBYO’s ideals of fraternity, democracy, and Judaism. This organization, and primarily Miami’s Hurricanes AZA Chapter, has built a brotherhood in Miami, as friends that are made in BBYO stick for life. Teenage boys can further their knowledge of Jewish ideals and continue with their Jewish experience, living through principles and structures that have been around for the last 100 years. Meetings are every Tuesday at the Alper JCC, where the boys get together alongside their sister chapter, N’shamah BBG, and spend an hour participating in chapter programming. Alongside these events, teens can also attend conventions, two annually with South Florida, where hundreds of teens spend Shabbat and a weekend together at a hotel celebrating Judaism and learning leadership. Alongside these, teens can also attend International Convention, where thousands of teens from around the world meet for 5 days to learn, celebrate, and have fun together, alongside people like the Second Gentleman of the US, TV Star Maddie Ziegler, and many other past guests. BBYO also provides unparalleled leadership opportunities for teens, with them being able to serve various roles on chapter, regional, and even international boards, alongside various leadership roles all around. This organization has built many friendships and connected many people further to their religion and their personality, and has changed hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide. There is quite frankly no other movement like it, and joining BBYO is the best thing a teenager can do for their own Jewish and personal journey. BBYO is open to all Jewish 8th-12th Graders in Miami. If you are a teen, join BBYO, and if you are a parent, enroll your teen today.

Celebrating Israel 75 in Miami

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is partnering with local Jewish organizations to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel with festivities across Miami-Dade County.

To mark this milestone Yom Ha’Atzmaut, or Israel Independence Day, which falls on April 26, community events will take place April 25-30 — and everyone is invited! The celebrations will offer family fun, food and music at Miami's three Federation-supported JCCs: Alper JCC, Miami Beach JCC and Michael-Ann Russell JCC, including appearances by Israeli musical duo Yaoz Magenheim and Tsur Shoham, from Federation partner city Yerucham, who will perform popular Israeli songs on piano, flute and guitar; a cantorial concert of Israeli favorites in North Dade and a gala hosted by the Israeli community featuring Yardena Arzi.
