Letter in Solidarity With Israel

Rabbincal Association Banner

October 9, 2023 23 Tishrei, 5784

For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest (Isaiah 62:1)

As rabbis representing Miami’s faith community, we watch with horror and shock the brutal, unprovoked, and heartless murders and abductions of hundreds of fellow Jews in the State of Israel. Fifty years to the day of the Yom Kippur War, we again defend our very right to live, to exist. Many of us have friends and family directly impacted by these horrific attacks. We stand hand in hand, heart in heart, with our fellow Jews. We share their pain today and lift our voices in solidarity and prayer.

There is no explanation that justifies such acts of wanton cruelty against innocent civilians- women, children, older adults, and even people simply attending a music festival in the desert. To celebrate the cold-blooded murder of innocents is despicable and reprehensible. The actions of Hamas and their Iranian supporters represent the depths of evil and barbarity.

Just as the United States would need to respond to such barbaric attacks unequivocally, we know that the State of Israel will need to respond decisively. We support the State of Israel to do what it must to defend its citizenry. We call on all those of good faith to call out evil, and to join in solidarity with the State of Israel.

During these dark days, we know we shall prevail. Never Again.

Rabbi Mario Rojzman, President

Rabbi Frederick L. Klein, Executive Vice President
