AJSE Celebrates Shavuot

The Association for Jewish Special Education invites all to celebrate the beautiful holiday of Shavuot. The event will be held at Temple Menorah, 620 75th St., Miami Beach 33141; on Sunday, June 9; from 12:00 to 2:00pm. There will be refreshments, including a light lunch; music and games. All those who are on time will receive a special gift.

The AJSE is a 40+ year-old, whose prime mission is to organize and manage celebrations of Jewish holidays for Jewish adults with developmental disabilities and their friends. 2019 The AJSE Celebrates Purim

“The Association for Jewish Special Education (AJSE) will be celebrating Purim at Temple Beth Am on Thursday, March 21, from 4pm to 6pm.
The Jewish adult special needs community is welcomed, along with their friends and interested volunteers. The program includes the Reading of the Megillah by Rabbi Jaime Aklepi, holiday music, games and refreshments. There is no charge. The Association for Jewish Special Education (AJSE) invites Jewish adults with developmental disabilities and their friends to join in the celebration of Tu B’Shvat (Jewish Arbor Day) on Sunday, January 27, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, at Temple Sinai of North Dade, 18801 NE 22 Ave. Miami 33180. Lunch will be served. Activities include games and music. Potted flowers will be distributed.

The AJSE is a 40+ year-old, local, private, non-profit, sponsored by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, with the mission to arrange Jewish celebrations for Jewish adults with developmental disabilities and their friends.

Also, to celebrate JDAIM (Jewish Disabilities and Inclusion Month), guests are welcomed to this TuB’Shvat event and to view the AJSE JDAIM display from 12pm to 2:30pm, with an exhibit of AJSE materials and photos.
Within that timeframe, attendees can review AJSE literature, holiday educational materials, an extensive photo collection and even an impressive autobiography of Benee Mills Paley, AJSE Education Coordinator. All JDAIM guests will be entered in a drawing, the prize being a year’s AJSE membership. Welcome!

AJSE 42nd Chanukah Party

The Association for Jewish Special Education (AJSE) is celebrating its 42nd Annual Chanukah Party, Sunday, Dec. 2, from noon to 2pm, at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Bldg, 4200 Biscayne Blvd, Miami 33137. Lunch will be served. The cost is $3.00 per person, except for the caregivers. (Thank you to the group homes who cover the costs of the caregivers.)

Besides lunch, treats include latkes, applesauce and Chanukah candy gelt. In the celebration, there will be games, music and "Chanukah Auction." Please reply if you plan on attending: 305-205-3846 or 954-442-9624.

Yom Ha-Atzmaut at TBTAS

April is time for Yom Ha-atzmaut. Join in to celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday at Temple Beth Tov Ahavat Shalom, Sunday, April 29th, at 2:00pm. There will be a surprise guest from the Consulate of Israel-Miami. It will be an afternoon of music and Israeli dancing. Live music by Cantor Irving Resnick, the TBTAS Choir and Paulino Claro, with a special music performance by Roger Prado.….Enjoy falafel, Hummus, Israeli salads, bourekas and much more! Temple Beth Tov Ahavat Shalom proudly presents Dr. Nathaniel Holmes, as Guest Speaker, on Friday, Jan. 19th, to honor the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial season. His presentation on the "Beloved Community" - an MLKJr. concept - will be given after Friday night services. Services as usual begin at 8:15pm, and conclude @ 9:15pm.

Dr. Holmes is well-credentialed, and is on staff at Florida Memorial College. To attend is a meaningful opportunity to honor the MLKJr. Memorial season, and to be inspired by a notable of our community.

Chanukah at Temple Beth Tov Ahavat Shalom

The TBTAS Chanukah Party will be delightful! 1) There is no admission charge. But donations are truly appreciated, and names of donors will be listed in the Chanukah Program. (Donation deadline: Thurs. Dec. 14th) Gold Level: Donation of $100; Silver level: Donation of $50 Bronze level: Donation of $25 2) Chanukah candle-lighting will be done in family groupings. So be sure to bring your family menorah, candles & matches. 3) The Temple Choir will lead us in Chanukah singing. 4) There will be a special presentation of the Chanukah story. 5) Children will be able to compose Chanukah cards for hospital patients. 6) Chanukah baskets, filled with goodies, will be auctioned off. 7) Kiddy bags of goodies will be distributed (including dreidels). 8) There will be a raffle with prizes. 9) Refreshments will be served: Latkes, applesauce, sour cream, sufganiot (donuts), Chanukah cookies, nibble food, hot & cold beverages. The 41st AJSE Chanukah Party

The Association for Jewish Special Education invites all to its 41st Chanukah Party, Dec. 10, Sunday, 1:30pm to 3:30pm, at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, 4200 Biscayne Blvd, Miami 33137.

There will be the Lighting of the Chanukah candles, music, “White Elephant Auction,” games and more. The cost is $3.00 per person (Any admission charges for the Caregivers should be paid by the group homes)
