Temple Emanuel-El Shavuot Eve Celebration
Posted by Sharon Jacobson on 05/28/2019 @ 05:15 PM
Shavuot Eve - Revelation Night
Saturday, June 8th, 9 PM.
Shavuot occurs 50 days after Passover. The Torah tells us to count 7 weeks starting on the second day of Passover, on the 50th day is the holiday of Shavuot. On this day traditionally, the 10 commandments were given at Mount Sinai. The children of Israel were preparing for this event but the problem was that they overslept… Moses had to wake them up! For this reason, to make up for it, we do a late night study at the synagogue. Traditional foods for this holiday are dairy: blintzes, baked ziti, lasagna and cheesecake.
Temple Emanu-El 1701 Washington Avenue Miami Beach
No cost. For further information, Call (305) 538-2503 or visit www.tesobe.org
