Dyslexia Awareness Resources Available

October is National Dyslexia Awareness Month and Federation’s Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance (JAA) has created a resource page for people with dyslexia and related reading differences. In Miami, Federation’s Annual Campaign supports 10 Jewish day schools, including Scheck Hillel Community School, which operates learning programs for students with dyslexia. “We empower students diagnosed with dyslexia to become independent, successful learners who can maximize achievement in every way,” says Eileen Ginzburg, Scheck Hillel's Director of Academic Services. "Scheck Hillel is grateful for Federation’s generous support. Through our Academic Services programming, families no longer need to forego a Jewish education.” Says one student, “Scheck Hillel's Nativ program has the most supportive teachers who saw my potential, even though I couldn’t ... I will always be grateful to this program.” Click here to learn more about Miami JAA and the wide variety of resources available for individuals with disabilities and their loved ones.

Miami Beach Residents: Vote YES on Referendum 2

Attention, Miami Beach residents! Your ballots this November will include an item – Referendum 2 – which, if passed, would provide essential funds for the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach and many other cherished arts and culture institutions in the City. A YES vote is a vote in favor of granting our Holocaust Memorial up to $7.15 million from the City of Miami Beach for critical infrastructure needs. It will enable the Memorial to maintain its status as one of the City’s premier attractions, and to continue creating top-tier educational content for all schools statewide. With the recent spike in antisemitism, the Memorial’s work has never been more important. Click here to read more about the Referendum and how to ensure your vote is counted in the election.
