One Happy Camper Grants for First-Time Campers

One Happy Camper is a program of the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) in partnership with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and Jewish overnight camps across North America. One Happy Camper provides grants of UP TO $1,000 to families with children attending non-profit, mission-driven Jewish overnight camp for the first time.

Eligibility criteria for first-time campers:

  • Miami-Dade County resident
  • For ages 8–17
  • Attending public school or non-Jewish private school
  • Attending a non-profit, Jewish, overnight camp listed on Find A Camp
  • Enrolled in camp for a minimum of 12 consecutive days
  • Has not previously attended Jewish camp (Campers who previously attended camp for 11 days or less are still eligible for first-time camper grants.)
  • Jewish day school or yeshiva students are not eligible but may be eligible for a need-based scholarship

APPLY NOW! 2025 GMJF GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is now accepting applications for two grant opportunities for 2025: Women’s Impact Initiative Grants and Jewish Incubator Grants.

  • To be considered for Women’s Impact Initiative Grants, proposals should identify obstacles self-identifying women and girls face and develop creative responses that promote social, economic and political equality.

  • Jewish Incubator Grants support nonprofits that strengthen Miami’s Jewish community through innovative and impactful programs. Jewish organizations with creative and forward-thinking ideas that enrich social service, educational or Jewish identity-building activities are invited to apply.

Grant applications for both opportunities are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024.

Yom HaZikaron is a Memorial Day for the fallen soldiers of the wars of Israel and victims of actions of terrorism. Join us for a poignant evening of reflection and empowerment as we commemorate October 7, the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust, and stand in solidarity with the courageous women of Israel. In the face of unimaginable tragedy and adversity, their voices continue to echo with resilience and hope.

Panelists: Ariel Pollock Star and Capt. Dr. Tehilah Meged-Book

Ariel Pollock Star has a decade of expertise in sustainable business strategy and development, with a rich background in the culinary field. Recently, she launched Lehem Zeh, a social venture focusing on food and community needs, while pursuing a doctorate in public health to study the impact of digital communities on mental health.

Capt. Dr. Tehilah Meged-Book is a specialist in internal medicine and geriatrics at Soroka Medical Center and Yerucham Community Clinic. During the Iron Swords War, she served as a battalion physician in the IDF reserves in Gaza and on the Northern front for three months. Tehilah is a mother of three and resides in Yerucham.

Apply Now for the Stephen Muss Impact Fellowship for the Alexander Muss High School in Israel

Fellowship

Students entering their sophomore and junior years of high school are invited to apply for the Stephen Muss Impact Fellowship, a program that offers $15,000 scholarships to Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI).

The meaningful experience, taking place August 26-December 23, 2024, offers Jewish students living in Miami-Dade County the chance to spend a semester living and learning in Israel, made possible by Stephen Muss and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. AMHSI is the only pluralistic, college prep, fully accredited program in which high school students’ study abroad together in Israel for a semester. Fellows return home ready to take their place as Jewish changemakers and ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people. Applications are still being accepted and can be accessed here.

Standing Up To Hate: A Bipartisan Conversation On Combating Antisemitism

Please join Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and Colorado Attorney General Philip J. Weiser virtually from 7-8pm on Tuesday, Dec. 14, for Standing Up To Hate: A Bipartisan Conversation On Combating Antisemitism. In this wide-ranging conversation, they will discuss their roles in fighting antisemitism, prosecuting hate crimes and leveraging legal tools to combat BDS.
