JCAT Youth presents "Neil Simon's The Good Doctor"

The Good Doctor

March 26- April 7

Directed by Michael Andron
Neil Simon’s homage to Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov, who claimed all Chekhov’s plays were comedies! This crowd-pleasing play is sometimes farcical, sometimes comical, sometimes poignant… the humor infectious, and the fun never ending.
"A great deal of warmth and humor in his retelling of these Chekhovian tales." - Newhouse Newspapers "There is much fun here. Mr. Simon's comic fancy is admirable." - The New York Times

JCAT Community Presents "The Diary Of Anne Frank

![TheDiaryOfAnneFrank] (http://jcctheatre.com/season/2018-19Images/1AnneFrank.jpg)

October 24-November 5

A Play by Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett
Based upon “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl”
Newly Adapted by Wendy Kesselman
Directed by Michael Andron
In this transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne's voice shines through: "When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I've never met. I want to go on living even after my death!" This is a new adaptation for a new generation.

Monday Mishegos with Mom at JCAT

Miriam Hoffman, author, scholar, journalist, playwright and survivor presents her new book A Breed Apart: Reflections of a Young Refugee

A Breed Apart: Reflections of a Young Refugee, published by YI Press (a division of Yiddishkayt Initiative, Inc.), is an engaging non-fiction tale of war and survival, seen through the eyes of a young Miriam Hoffman and her father. Hoffman’s personal tale captures the beauty and importance of keeping the Yiddish language and Jewish culture alive during the twentieth-century, despite countless attempts to destroy it.
This intellectual and emotional journey describes Miriam Hoffman’s experience as a young refugee girl growing up in a post-war DP (Displaced Person) refugee camp in Ulm, Germany, after the destruction of World War II.
Hoffman’s son, Avi, is a multi-talented actor, director, comedian, singer and Jewish cultural activist. Together, they will be reading selections from Hoffman’s book. The evening will also include a discussion, Q&A and book signing.
